Yaranaika? (やらないか) or “Shall we do it?” is a popular catchphrase / internet meme that stems from the opening dialogue in Kuso Miso Technique, a yaoi manga drawn by Yamakawa Junichi. The manga title literally reads “Shit Soup Technique” in English.

In this scene, Masaki, an average college student, is walking through the park when he crosses eyes with Abe, an older mechanic sitting on a bench. Upon seeing him, Masaki says to himself “Uhotsu, Hot guy!” while Abe promptly unzips his jumpsuit, reveals his “unit” out in the open and asks, “Shall We Do It?” The rest of story is …history.

Today, parodies and recital videos of Kuso Miso Technique (in Japanese) can be found on YouTube. In addition, both phrases from the scene are frequently referenced on 2Chan and Nico Nico Douga as a comical expression of approval. Largely due to the comical nature of character dialogues and graphic intercourse scenes, Kuso Miso Technique somehow appealed to mass audiences beyond the Yaoi fan base and became republished in 2004.
